I'm trying to lose weight. I work out 5-6 days /wk, but my diet is not going so well. I'm trying to eat clean, but I have little time and money.

Mainly shop at the periphery of the grocery store. And eat fresh vegetables. You can only eat so much broccoli. Raiding the refrigerator for uncooked vegetables is not only healthy, but quick. This is one of my most frequent meals. Just grab a tomato, lettuce, carrots, etc. and you are done.

And remember, if you are working out that often, you are building muscle. A muscle cell weighs 50 times more than a fat cell. So your evaluation should not be weight loss, but loss of inches.

It might be necessary to cut back on the exercise if weight loss is your goal. Realize I said cut back, not eliminate.

1. When it comes to eating clean, it starts with shopping. Spend most of your time shopping on the outer perimeter of the grocery store. Avoid the center aisles, this is where you find lots of packaged items that may drain your pocket book and fatten your waistline.

2. Drink plenty of water and use a refillable water bottle. Staying hydrated is key. Sometimes hunger can be confused with dehydration.

3. Eat local. If you have a farmers market nearby, visit on the weekends. This is a great way to support local business, and stock up on produce. Local farmers are often willing to bargain with you for a sale.

4. When designing your meals, keep half of your plate full of vegetables. This can be done on a budget, and it will help your waistline as well.

5. When it comes to free fitness ideas, grab a couple of fitness apps for your phone that can keep you motivated such as runkeeper, c25K, myfitnesspal, or loseit.

6.If time is a factor, make plans to cook in a crockpot, or prepare your meals on Sunday and stock them in your refrigerator. One of my favorite crockpot meals is a turkey chili that can cook while you worko or sleep. This will help you avoid eating out at the last minute which can also drain your wallet.

7. Looking for resources? Don't ignore good used  books on www.amazon.com. Some of my favorites include "The Eat Clean Diet", by Tosca Reno and The Biggest Loser Cookbooks.
