A new study has documented the effectiveness of grapefruit juice in preventing weight gain. It also has benefits in reducing insulin sensitivity and controlling glucose.
The authors noticed a 13% weight loss in mice subjected to a high calorie diet over a control group, which is equivalent to the weight loss noticed with Metformin, a drug used to control diabetes and has a side effect of weight loss.
This study is significant in that it shows that a natural fruit juice can be just as effective as a prescription drug in controlling weight gain.
And it costs significantly less.
