People have been arguing for years about the benefits (or lack thereof) of vitamins. The antagonists say they are expensive, don't do anything, and just make your urine more yellow.

Do we need to take vitamins? Not really. Most are found in the foods we eat, except for Vitamin D, which is provided by the sun.

However, society has advanced and changed. We are no longer farmers growing our own food. And the processed food industry and fast foods are everywhere. So we no longer get the necessary nutrients we need on a daily basis. How many of us truly eat a balanced diet? And that doesn't even account for the environmental pollutants we are exposed to.

In the news recently is this: Large-Scale Study Affirms Daily Multivitamin-Mineral for Women

Women, take heart: a daily multivitamin-mineral supplement appears to reduce the risk of heart disease by 35%, when taken for 3 years or more.  Researchers from the Office of Dietary Supplements at the US National Institutes of Health (Maryland, USA) analyzed data collected on 8.678 adults, ages 40 years and older, enrolled in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES III)

I personally take a daily multivitamin. I find it supplements Lays Potato Chips and Hagen-Daz ice cream.
